The Countryside Conumdrum: Where is Willow Farm? (2023)
Flag and Manifesto
Supermarkets have mastered the art of deception—filling their shelves with "farm-fresh" brands that don’t exist. These fake farms trick consumers into believing they’re supporting local agriculture, while real farmers struggle against unfair pricing, corporate control, and financial instability.
My design confronts this illusion. The flag is a visual protest, stripping back the pastoral fantasy to reveal the truth: farms are being forced to turn industrial in order to survive. The colors and symbols reflect the struggle—nature co-opted for profit, livelihoods threatened by exploitation.
The accompanying manifesto calls for transparency, fair pricing, and a commitment to supporting actual farmers over corporate fabrications. It demands that supermarkets stop the deception and that consumers recognize the impact of their choices.
